Ethiopia and Somalia - Hot Spot!

On 12/28/06 we reported on the celebrations in Mogadishu because the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) terrorists had been driven to the countryside, though they (ICU)claimed they were leaving so as to avoid bloodshed of the innocents. So much for Muslim terrorists’ concerns for ‘innocent victims’, as dozens were killed today

We waited for the opportune time to shed more light on the 'African Pillar of the Caliphate', and now it seems the tide is turning for the short lived celebrations among the Ethiopians, Western backed Somali government, and bright-eyed non-Muslim power brokers, who think they can control Islamic Africa

With nearly daily attacks on Mogadishu by Islamic terrorists whose ranks have been swelling with Muslims from some of our trusted allies, and a few “home-grown’ (there’s that word again) American, French, and British terrorists

Now there are reports of pre-dawn mortar attacks on Mogadishu that killed dozens today, and whispers among Arab and Western diplomats of American soldiers being held captive in Somalia, and Kenyan Police arresting armed Asians trying to cross over into Somalia

Al-Sharq (Arab news) goes so far as to say American ambassador to Kenya, Michael Ranneberger met with the chairman of the legislative council of  Islamic Courts Union (ICU) Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, (under Kenyan government protection), and asked Ahmed about the missing U.S. servicemen and if he was prepared to go back to Somalia to form a unity government after elections next year.

Interestingly, the ambassador and the American government consider Sheikh Ahmed a moderate, even though the so called moderate Sheikh wanted to install Sharia in Somalia. Doesnt the ambassador and the U.S. understand, there is no democracy in Islam?

Oh well, PC tells us, democracy and elections will change the sheikh's mind, and the world will be a better place.

Time for toasting in Mogadishu?

Not really, the Ethiopians and Somali government troops feel victorious as the Islamic Courts jihadis move out of Mogadishu. The jihadis many of them from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan (our two main allies in the Islamic world) say they won't to avoid killing civilians - now that's a first - and have moved to the country side where they will fight the apostate Somalis, and infidel Christian Ethiopians

And so it came to pass on Christmas day, well actually since Christmas Eve, the Ethiopians entered Somalia with force. Along with their temporary Muslim "friends" - Somali Government troops. The Ethiopians think they can route the Islamic terrorists within days.

Of course there is now an open invitation for "jihadis" from around the world to come fight the infidel Ethiopians - lots of takers, as Zawahiri plans on making Somalia the spring board for Islamic terrorist activity in Africa

According to Yusuf Mohamed Siad of the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia (SICS), the Ethiopians had but one week to stop shoring up the weak Somali government in Baidoa and to leave the country. Yusuf and the rest of his fellow jihadis are determined to enforce sharia throughout Somalia, through a "holy war" declared by Somalia’s top Islamic leader Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, in July from Baidoa just 150 miles northwest of Mogadishu.

Yes the same Mogadishu made famous by the movie "Black Hawk Down", and where America, after withdrawing its military might realized the dark continent was going to be a challenge in the war on terror.

Unfortunately for the Ethiopians, even if they go home to their mostly Christian landlocked and "Muslim locked" nation, it is a country surrounded by Muslim countries intent on spreading jihad, and forming the African pillar of an Islamic caliphate.

The United States has accused the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia (SICS) of harboring Islamic terrorist suspects in the 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, and having links to Al-Qaeda. With the never ending enmity between Christian Ethiopia and mainly Muslim Eritrea to the North, Muslim Sudan to the North and West, Somalia to the East and South, and a large restive Ethiopian Muslim population, the possibility of all out war in the Horn of Africa seems a real possibility in the near future.
